Google Chrome Extension & Highrise Update

New Stuff

  • Ever wanted a Zendesk activity stream right in your browser, telling you about all those tickets you're assigned to getting updated? Well now you can, the Zendesk Activity Stream is now in the Chrome Web Store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lepncnolflpphikjokokpbbmcombdffk (and of course, please do tell us what you think via the reviews section).
  • We've made some great new additions to our popular Highrise Widget, as well as looking a little more awesome:
    • Automatically searches for the requester in Highrise, presenting you with their Highrise information without the need to click anything.
    • If the widget doesn't find the requester in Highrise, you can one click add a profile to Highrise with details from their Zendesk profile.
    • Search Highrise for people or companies.
    • More information about contacts in Highrise, such as their Twitter handle, phone number, etc.
If you currently make use of the Highrise Widget, you don't need to do a thing. All the new features will simply happen.
If you have not used our Highrise Widget before, simply go to Settings > Extensions > Highrise and add in your details, and then simply place the widget on any page you wish.

Fixed Stuff

  • The link to download a PDF version of Voice receipts was hidden accidentally, this should no longer be the case.

Nice improvements on the Highrise Widget - very useful enhancement. Keep up the great work and if you can do such enhancements for other widgets that'd be great.

@Community: We have some pretty exciting announcements to be made in the coming months about Widgets in general. Stay tuned.

I installed the plugin for Chrome and it requests the zendesk domain.  I enter that and then the plugin shows just a zendesk logo (which if clicked takes me to zendesk.com) and a configuration button that allows me to set my domain.

It doesn't authenticate me is any way and, when I updated my ticket, it didn't display anything.  What am I missing?

Great work - love both the activity stream and the launchpad within Chrome

Jake, I can't login to the Chrome extension with our single sign-on. Is that going to be fixed? My agents don't know their "normal" logins.

Hi Jake,

The highrise widget is great for a small company like us, with a very limited customer base, but I would LOVE it the widget also worked when creating a new ticket after I have inserted the requester. Right now it only works when its an existing ticket I open. If I get a call, I open a ticket and insert the requester - this is where I need highrise to tell me more about this costumer if he exists in highrise.

I would also love it it showed more information like costum fields and notes!

its the coming month - where is the widget news ;)

Having the same problem as lucas here. The extension worked fine the other day when I was logged in but I logged out of it and now it wont let me back in. Assuming this has something to do with SSO since I get a zendesk page thats not the usual one when trying to login through the extension. I know it works with SSO (and it was very helpful) but now I can't get it to work again which is frustrating.

@Zach: Are you logged into your account? The extension uses the same session as you, so if you're logged out of your own account, you'll be logged out of the extension too.

I manage multiple zendesks (currently 3, soon to be more); what's the best way to get all of the info in one place.  I mainly use chrome; but I could switch.

I would really love to see my open tickets and the total <pending tickets for each zendesk at a glance.

One small critism of the otherwise excellent Chrome Extension; it opens views in the classic interface, not the new interface.  Is there a setting to choose which interface you want, please?

By the way, colleagues at govuk.zendesk.com have noticed I'm using it and like it.

Kind regards,

@James: Nope, nothing you can do just yet. We're working on an update, which got a little delayed by Google's security changes to Extensions which mean there's a few things we have to re-write before we're allowed to upload an update.
