What locations are planned and when can we expect them?

Hello,

We are going to work on several Apps to integrate our CRM with Zendesk. We've made the plans with the former Widget structure in mind, but were advised to wait until the Apps were released. When I read the current documentation about locations, the only one available right now is "ticket_sidebar".

My questions are:
What other locations are planned?
What kind of timeframe should we take into account? (days, weeks, months?)
Will there be something like 'global javascript'? (to be more specific: we want to catch the phone number of incoming calls)

With kind regards,

Sebastiaan

Hey Sebastiaan,

We certainly plan on having User, Org and Group pages to allow for Apps - in the same sidebar style - and hope that will be weeks. On ticket pages we've discussed the idea of small canvas areas around the ticket page which you can inject certain elements into, but nothing concrete there yet, so probably months.

We won't have anything like a "Global JavaScript", at least certainly not in the beginning. Speaking to your specific use case (phone numbers) I think this makes sense. We should add something to the available ticket data which allows you to get that phone number - but unfortunately it will only be at the point of which the agent decides to take the phone call.

Hello Jake,

Thanks for your answer :)

About the phone calls; I was being told that a ticket is only created after the call has ended. So that no ticket data was available during the conversation between the agent and the customer. I'm not at the office so I cannot confirm now. That's why I called it 'global', because you can get an incoming call on any page.

Anyway; I've got to get into this deeper before I can ask any specific questions about this. So you'll probably hear back from me about this in the near future ;)

Cheers,

Sebastiaan

That's technically correct, a ticket is not created yet. But the data is already there in the interface, so the App framework can reasonably access it (although it's not current functionality at the moment).

Hello Jake,

I have to manipulate a tickets view. Coloring by conditions etc. Is there a plan to add a "view" location of Apps?

Or maybe a global location like you described  "like a "Global JavaScript"".

@Mikhail: We do have some plans to apps to views. At the moment I can't speak to what you'll be able to do to views when we add that location, so am unsure at this stage that something like coloring lines will be possible.
