    Thanks Manda,

Could you elaborate a bit more on how you are using the API to make updates?

    Hi Justin,

If you're working on a very small scale and only need to make a handful of changes, I would actually recommend going into the admin UI and making the changes manually.

Otherwise, our documentation team has created a great set of articles to help you get started:

    Zendesk Rest API

Hope this helps - let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Manda

If I'm rebranding but want to ensure continuity with already existing tickets / email contacts, could I use the Multibrand feature to set up an email channel with the old brand name, with email going to support@brand.zendesk.com? That way customers who accidentally email to the old support addresses can still make it into our system.

    Zac,

Were you using an external support address for the "old" Zendesk subdomain, or were you using a @subdomain.zendesk.com email address for support? If you were using an external address, and you are just concerned about the emails from users emailing that previous address creating tickets, you could simply set up forwarding from that address to your new Zendesk subdomain support address, instead of the older one - does that make sense? That way emails will still flow in from the external email address. Otherwise, if you were using a @subdomain.zendesk.com email for support, I think your solution would work!

Both. Mainly external, but thinking about how to ensure continuity between all use cases, internal and external, so that answers my question!

@Manda Chol, Do I need a SSL certificate for my new cname if my actual domain does not have one?

Hey Gilberto! Let me check on that for you. :)

Hey Gilberto. You do not need an SSL certificate but it is strongly recommended. The simplest way would be to simply enable a Zendesk-provisioned certificate.

Our company went through a rebranding a few years ago, and we created a branded subdomain and host-mapped it to our Zendesk URL. (We did not change our Zendesk subdomain.)

Now the company has rebranded again, and we need to host map to a different subdomain. I understand how to do the host-mapping, but my concern is about what will happen when an existing customer has a saved link to a URL from our "old" subdomain? Will they be redirected to the same article page on the new subdomain? How do we take care of that?

    Hey Sally,

One of our Community Moderators provided a solution on the following community post which may be useful to you: Changing existing host mapping

I was also able to track down the following user tip related to Help Center redirecting: Knowledgebase/Help Center Redirection using JavaScript

Let me know if that doesn't get you the results you're looking for!
