Localize / Customize Chat Department Name
BeantwortetWe have setup a prechat form and because we service two departments during the same business hours, the prechat form displays the department select dropdown.
It is possible to customize and localize the text labels in the prechat form, as described here:

However, it is not possible to localize or customize the actual department names; they are only displayed exactly as they are named in the Chat Widget.
This is not ideal since we establish department names in English and would wish for users of other languages to read out the department name in their own localized language.
Any advice would be appreciated

Currently, there are no plans for department names to support translations or dynamic content.
The solutions you can explore today is create multiple departments with each translation and then use the Javascript API to filter out the departments you want to be shown to the visitor from the dropdown in the pre-chat form. Alternatively, you can choose to not create multiple departments but build a custom widget using the Web SDK to map the translations to the specific department ID.
