Zendesk chat ID on ticket API response

    Hi Sounak,
     
    The chat ID is not a property of the ticket object returned in the Tickets API response.  However when a chat creates a ticket, it includes the chat ID within the ticket description.  So it's possible to pull the chat ID from the ticket description text present in the Ticket API response.

    Hi Christopher Kennedy Can you explain a bit more on how to do this? I'm looking at a ticket audit from a chat and despite the chat ID being present in the comment on the ticket when the events view is used, it does not appear anywhere in the audit log ticket comments. How can I pull this ID from the description, if it's not visible in the description in the audit log? Am I using the wrong endpoint?

    Sure thing.  You can retrieve the ticket comments (including the chat ID) from the List Ticket Comments endpoint.

    @Christopher Kennedy I just checked multiple conversations, and not a single one had the chat ID in that API endpoint. 🤔 I specifically copied and searched for the ID to be sure. Any other suggestions?
