We’re pleased to announce that the EAP now allows you to save versions of your configurations.

This feature allows Admins to save a specific version of their configuration settings. By doing so, you can create a snapshot of your environment at a particular point in time. This capability allows you to maintain an historical record of configurations, which can be referenced as needed. It serves as a safeguard against unintended changes and provides a basis for future comparisons.

How do I access it?

You will find this under the Configuration management menu item, labelled “Versions”. Read more about using the feature here.

I like the idea of snapshots of the configs as it's nice to revert back to a previous time and see the differences.

Thinking forward to when there's a deploy feature, will there be the ability to save a specific configuration such as business hours?
So you wouldn't need to save the entire configset, if I plan on updating the business hours, I can focus purely on that configset.

Thanks for the feedback Steve Treglown. Here's how we're thinking about it at the moment …

Snapshots include all your config items. When it comes to deploying, you can select which aspects you want to deploy. We do it this way because some config items have dependencies on other parts of Zendesk which aren't always obvious. If those dependencies aren't in the snapshot file, then it makes it difficult to package up a deploy that will work.

Having said that, the idea of having smaller discrete packets of config/deploys is a good one. We'll keep it in mind and see what the engineers say when we begin building the deploy part of this product.
