Agree totally with both your points:
ORDER OF MESSAGES IS NOW CONFUSING
A DROPDOWN TAKES MORE TIME TO USE THAN BUTTONS
but it's the order that is the major problem.
Also, much prefer the input box at the top of the screen, not at the bottom.

We don't like the new layout at all either.
Want the composer box were it was - at the top and the previous comments with the newest at the top. Just like it was before.

I too very much doubt there will ever be any action on this. Zendesk do not appear to have any interest in the matter.
