We're excited to announce the availability of clone flow for action builder. Build faster by reusing existing action flows instead of starting from scratch.

This announcement includes the following topics:

  • What is changing?
  • Why is Zendesk making this change?
  • What do I need to do?

What is changing?

Action builder now supports two new copy capabilities:

  • Clone flow: Duplicates an existing flow from the action flows list or from within the flow canvas. Action builder copies all steps, triggers, conditions, branches, actions, descriptions, and connection references. Cloned flows are created in an inactive state and open directly in edit mode.
  • Copy and paste steps: Copies individual steps (such as actions or custom code) and pastes them into another location within the same flow or into a different flow in the same account. Step configurations and values are preserved.

Why is Zendesk making this change?

We’re adding flow cloning and step copy and paste to eliminate the need to rebuild proven configurations from scratch.

  • Clone flows: Duplicate an existing flow and adapt it for a new use case.

  • Copy and paste steps: Reuse specific steps within the same flow or across different flows.

Together, these features save time, reduce setup errors, and keep your configurations consistent as you build and iterate faster.

What do I need to do?

These features are available in action builder. You don't need to do anything.

  • To clone a flow: Select an existing flow from the action flows list or canvas menu (⋮) and click Clone flow. Update the name, review configurations and connections, test, and activate when ready.

  • To copy and paste a step: Select Copy from a step's menu (⋮) or press Cmd+C  or Ctrl+C. Navigate to the destination step, open its menu (⋮), and select Paste below or press Cmd+V or Ctrl+V.
