Beginning August 1st, 2017, Zendesk will no longer accept Marketplace submissions for new apps created using the v1 version of the Zendesk Apps framework, or allow uploads of new private apps using the v1 framework.
On March 1st, 2018, no further v1 updates will be accepted to apps in the public Marketplace and all new submissions must use the v2 framework. Also, no new updates to private v1 apps will be allowed. This is part of a larger effort to migrate existing apps to the new and improved v2 framework.
After these dates, v1 apps will continue to function if they are already installed in an account. Additionally, emergency security updates to v1 apps may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
If you're currently developing an application and plan to release it publicly on the Zendesk Apps Marketplace, we highly recommend starting with the v2 framework. If you currently have a public app using the v1 framework and would like to get a head start on migrating to v2, several resource exist to help you accomplish this:
- Apps framework v2 documentation
- Migrating to v2 - This doc provides information on the app scaffold - a tool created to help migrate apps to v2 more easily
- v2 app tutorial - Build a v2 app from scratch
Additionally, more content will become available pointing out the benefits of the v2 framework and best practices as we get closer to deprecating the use of v1 in public apps. Please subscribe to the Zendesk Engineering blog for additional content as it arrives.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this phase-out process or need assistance with a specific migration, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further assistance.
