Question
Can a welcome email be sent to end-users whose profiles were created via Salesforce integration?
Answer
Yes, you can enable the welcome email feature for end-user profiles created in your Zendesk via Salesforce. This feature can be enabled by one of the Salesforce admins in the Zendesk for Salesforce App. By default this functionality is disabled.
To enable welcome email for end-users created via Salesforce
- In Salesforce, select Zendesk for Salesforce from the menu in the upper-right.
- Click the Zendesk tab.
- Locate the User and Organization Sync Settings section and click Go to Mappings.
- Select a user pairing option from the Sync Pairing drop-down menu.
- Set the Send new user welcome email option to Yes.

I do not see the welcome email option in version 5.3 of the Salesforce app. I would want to disable the email for users created in salesforce. The only way I found to do that was disable it in the Customer settings in Zendesk itself by deselecting "Also send a welcome email when a new user is created by an agent or administrator."
Ideally, I would leave this on so that Customers added manually by an agent would get the welcome email while users added (and synced) from Salesforce would not.
Hi Frederick,
The welcome email for new end-users created in Salesforce is not sent by default. So, if you haven't enabled this feature before the welcome emails are not sent for users created via Salesforce.
I just have checked the 5.3 App version and can confirm that the feature described in the article is present in the User and Organization Sync Settings section of the App settings.
NOTE: "Also send a welcome email when a new user is created by an agent or administrator" Zenedesk Support feature has no effect on the above functionality.
