Ahhh, shortcuts to headings, the next best thing to having the option in the wysiwyg editor itself.
Hi. I'm trying to find out if I can use (or create custom) keyboard shortcuts to insert other elements like call-outs, block-quotes, ordered lists, etc?
The objective is to be able to insert elements without having to copy/paste html into the source code.
Hi Rich!
It's not possible to create custom keyboard shortcuts in-product. In lieu of that, I'd recommend using a text expander app. I've been using aText for a long time; my only complaint is that you have to manually back up your stuff; if you don't and you have to reinstall you're stuck. There are many other options out there as well, so you can find something that will work for your team!
Thanks Jessie,
That's a helpful tip that I hadn't considered. I tried a few chrome extensions and found Text Blaze to be the most useful (early days though).
Hi Rich! I'm glad you found it helpful!
If there a shortcut for indenting?
Hey Melody,
I did some digging on my end and it doesn't look like there's a keyboard shortcut available for indenting at this time.
If this is something you're interested in, I encourage you to create a feedback post in our Guide Product Feedback forum for our Product Managers to review.
Cheers :)
Is there a 'previous tab' shortcut?
Hello,
Can you clarify the action you are performing while you'd need that shortcut?
The title says "Keyboard shortcuts for formatting knowledge base articles", so if you are in the article editor environment, it is not possible, I just want to make sure we are on the same page.
Thanks!
It would be extremely helpful to also have shortcuts for bulleted/indented lists. A lot of our articles are steps-based, with various nestings of ol/ul lists, and being able to quickly set one versus the other would be very handy.
2nding Harrison Hopkins comment, bullets are EVERYWHERE in our our help centers and not having a keyboard shortcut is extremely time consuming.
Hi Harrison Hopkins and Ryan Mumby -
Thanks for this feedback - would one of you mind posting this to the Guide Feedback section in our Community, and the other can add vote it up and add a comment? Feedback on Guide
