    Hi @...

    Is there anyway to bulk remove user data tags? For example, if I am bulk uploading data and one day a user is growing, but then they get updated to a vip - how would one go about removing the VIP tag - or would it be better to simply use the custom fields to make those changes / updates when it comes to user segmentation?

    Hi Bart,

    There is not a way to bulk remove tags with the bulk user import feature. I would recommend doing so in the user interface.

    If you'd like to remove all the tags from a user, and then overwrite them, there is an API endpoint to remove all tags on a ticket, user, or organization: https://developer.zendesk.com/rest_api/docs/support/tags#remove-tags

    I hope this is helpful!

    Thanks Ben,

    Haven't tested it yet, but I think I can remove those tags by going to settings > people > tags and deleting them which will remove them from all users. Which would be fine for me if that is possible as I am replacing it with custom field for those types of tags. I wonder if you guys have a test environment you could check for me to see if it would indeed remove those tags?

    Thanks

    Bart

    Hi Bart,

    You are correct that if you want to remove this from ALL users or orgs, that method would work. I just tested it in my own test environment.

    I hope this is helpful!

    Hi,

    Is there a way to automate the user bulk import? I would like to schedule it on a daily frequency so that there is no human intervention, except for reviewing errors. Thanks!

    Hello Maria Skilbred,

    At this time, there is no way to natively within the product to automate the user bulk import. I would recommend reaching out to our Product Feedback forum and sharing your use case so our developers can consider implementing this feature in future updates.

    Thanks, Devan. I will reach out to the Product Feedback forum, and hopefully they will be able to include this new feature in a future release.

    Don't see a link to EXPORT from this screen (user list) only IMPORT.

    Please see attached.

    Please advise where EXPORT can be invoked. In particular how to export a CSV and how to export an XML. I need to export users, and possibly organizations. Thanks.

    Hi Stephen,

    There are a few different options for exporting users, explained here: How to export a list of users

    We recently updated our company name and email domain and I need to update all our internal users in Zendesk to reflect their new email domain, ex: user@company123.com to user@company.com. I understand if I bulk upload via CSV, I can only add a secondary email to each user.

    Can a user use their secondary email address as their log-in? Is there another way I can bulk update user's log-in email address?

    Hi Zach 👋

    Yes, you understand correctly. A secondary email address can indeed be used for logging in (if you don't have SSO set-up).

    Will this work to just update a short list of users, and not the entire database? The instructions indicate that we would export a list of all users, then update just a few, then import the changed list. I would prefer to just import a list of users who need a change (~150), rather than the list of all users (~4000). Would that work?

    Hey Marci,

    You should also be able to update a small subset of users in your account. You won't need to update every user in your account so no worries there!

    Let me know if you run into any issues!

    When bulk updating users I need to replace ALL the current tags with a new set in my CSV file.  How do I title the column header to run the 'set tags' function that I assume would accomplish this goal?

    Hi Ben,

    Unfortunately, the CSV Bulk Import functionality does not include the capability to remove existing tags, only to add new ones. You'll need to use the Create or Update Many Users call in the Zendesk API as mentioned in the article above instead.

    Hi Zendesk Team and Community,

    is it possible to use the Create_or_Update_User API to add multiple Organizations to one User?
    We have currently the problem, that we aren't able to import this at once.
    Following Code is not able to add both or at least one organization to the customer. Is there any workaround so that we do not have to import this user twice? IN CSV Import Method it's possible to add multiple organizations via |.. in API it doesn't work.
    Example Code:

    {
        "users": [
            {
                "email": "abcde@web.de",
                "name": "Test User ABCDE",
                "organization": {
                    "name": "Orga1|Orga2"
                },
                "user_fields": {
                    "organisation1": "Orga1",
                    "organisation2": "Orga2"
                },
                "details": "",
                "notes": ""
            }
        ]
    }

    Hi any updates on having these bulk updates as a native Admin tool?

    Hi Christian,

    Users endpoint will not do the job. Org memberships - will. See this page for API call syntax and some other additional info: Create Many Memberships
    Note: above API call will fail, if you will try to update a user with an org, to which he already belongs to. So in short: update users with an org, to which they do not belong yet. This endpoint is best for cases when you need to import new users and they belong to 1 or less organisations.

    Hi Daniel,

    Thank you for messaging us.

    This functionality only works with users inside Zendesk. What I can recommend is using our API documentation Here.

    Currently this is what we have. Hopefully this helps!
