How can I restrict a Community topic to only agents, or close the topic to new posts? Follow

This was very helpful.  Question though-- can you apply this to multiple topics?  If so, how would you do that?

    Hey Jordan -

You can apply it to as many topics as you wish. You just need to insert that code each place the "new post" button appears.

I take it this will not allow anyone to add a post?  Is there a way to allow agents/managers to post but not end users?

    Hey Bill!

It's totally possible to do this with some custom Javascript. We have a thread in the Community that lays out a few different iterations on how to hide elements. They're not calling out the ability to add a post specifically, but it'll get you started. You can find that thread here.

    Hey Bill -

You're correct, removing the button would prevent anyone from creating a new post.

Are you looking to have agents/managers be the only ones who can post and then end-users still be able to comment, or do you want the entire topic (posting AND visibility) limited to agents/managers?

If it's the latter, you simply adjust the user segment so that the topic is visible only to the designated group. If it's the former, there isn't a native/supported way to do it. But I'm going to ask around to see if anyone has ideas on how that might be accomplished using custom code.

    Hi Nicole,

It is the former,  Basically we have a Topic for Guidelines and FAQs for our Community (we label as a Forum) that we only want Agents and Manager the ability  to post and comment but for users to be able to view.

You don't have to look for the code if its too much trouble.  Depending on the LOE to make the change we may leave it as is since we're trying to limit the amt of code customization for the site.

    Thanks for your feedback!

    Hey Bill -

You could do it, but it would require customizing the code to basically just hide the "new post" and "comment" buttons from end-users.
