How can I update the default language of my Help Center or change the source language (locale) of existing articles? I have a few articles that have the wrong source language (locale). For example, I created my articles using the source language EN-GB, but I need them to be EN-US. What can I do to fix this?
Setting the correct default language on your Help Center is important. The Help Center displays pages in different languages based on locale code in the page URL. For example, Help Center URL's ending in "/hc/en-us" will show in English (US), and will only show content with that same locale selected. If you created articles with the wrong source language (locale) you can fix this by following the below steps:
1. Correct your Help Center's default language
If you chose the wrong default language in your Help Center, you can change it in Guide settings. See Configuring the default language for your Help Center.
2. Fix the content source language
Within the article editor itself there is no way to edit the source language (locale) of an existing article. However there are two other ways to make this change.
Manually re-create articles
This option will take some time and effort, but it can be done. You will need to copy (or export) your content and re-create articles with the right source locale.
Update source locale using API
Another option to fix this problem is to update the source locale programmatically of each article via our API. Please refer to this super helpful tip from our Community member: Guide: How to fix your source locale in existing articles, sections and categories.
