Overview
This article describes our recommendations for configuring a firewall for use with Zendesk Chat. If your agents experience constant disconnections, lags or doubled messages — this article may be the solution!
Procedure
For chat to have an optimal connection, consider the below:
- Traffic from *.zopim.com and *.zopim.io is on the Allowed Domains list on the firewall. (* is a wildcard and means all subdomains on the zopim.com and zopim.io domain).
- Zendesk Chat only uses ports 80 and 443, which should be open on all firewalls/VPNs as they are standard ports.
- Zendesk Chat relies on Amazon for services. If you are blocking Amazon IPs, it could negatively impact chat performance.
- Ensure this article has been adhered to in terms of allowed IPs: Configuring your firewall for use with Zendesk
Finally, ensure you are not blocking any relevant IPs in Settings > Account > Security.

Is there an IP Range for chat transcripts sent from zopim.com chats? I want to whitelist email transcripts but don't know what to give my IT other than noreply@zopim.com
Thanks!
Hey Mark,
I double checked with our Chat team and it doesn't look like we have a list of IP ranges to provide at this time. Your best option would be to provide your IT team with the email address you referenced.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Brett Bowser Thanks that helps! I work with one of your customers for support.
FYI when I try to @Mention you you don't come up with @brett unless I put in @brett-bo so might want to raise that concern. I tried @brettbowser and @brett_bowser and neither worked. The hyphen wasn't obvious to me so maybe a tooltip needs to pop when doing an @Mention for refining results if you're not finding the person you're looking to @mention. Copying and pasting your link to profile should also resolve to an @mention as well.
Appreciate the heads up Mark! I will let our product managers know so they can take a look :)
Brett Bowser Does each company have their own subdomain? We use Amazon Workspaces for hipaa security. I'd rather not have our firewall use a wildcard domain. We interact with Active Campaign and would prefer just to add a specific url to our exceptions list. Can you help?
Hey Mark,
Each organization would most likely have their own domain so you'd need to add those to your allow/blocklist. I'm not familiar with Active Campaign so I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help here. Perhaps others can jump in here and offer up an alternative solution for you!
