On January 30 2019 00:00 UTC, the Zendesk owned and supported Iframe App is being migrated to Zendesk Apps Framework v2. In doing so, we no longer support the use of custom PNG images in place of the app icon. Some customers using the current version of the Iframe app have custom icons uploaded.
Once the app is updated to use Framework v2, the app will display an icon with the letters "IF", this is the first two letters of the default value of the Icon characters or image name setting "Iframe".
This looks like so in the navigation bar:
This can be changed/configured.
Why is this happening?
This is happening because Zendesk apps are being migrated to use Framework v2 and using custom icons via upload is no longer possible with the new framework due to security concerns.
What can be done to remedy or customize this?
There are two paths you can take to customize your Iframe App icons;
You may specify up to two UTF-8 characters to act as the icon (letters and numbers are also fine)
You may use Zendesk SVG icons to serve as the app icon. To do this, visit these pages: Icon Set 1, Icon Set 2, take the identifier of the SVG and add a : to each side. So for example, if you wanted your icon to be the 26px widget icon, you would add
or even just
as the Icon characters or image name field value, example:
After saving the app settings, you will need to refresh your browser window for the changes to be reflected.
