We are happy to announce an update to the themes page UI, making it clearer, simpler and scalable for future additions to the theming experience.
This article covers the main changes we have made:
Ordering of themes changes
The layout and ordering of the theme thumbnails on the themes page has been updated for a cleaner and simpler overview of your themes.
If you are on Guide Professional, Legacy or Enterprise you will notice that we have removed the sections for standard themes and custom themes. As before all theme thumbnails have a small icon indicating if it is a Zendesk standard theme or a custom theme.
On all plans your live theme is still indicated with the green “Live” label on the thumbnail and now also has a green highlight. However your live theme now appears together with all your themes in order based of the last update, starting with the most recently updated.
This change does not affect your themes in any way, only the way your themes are displayed in the Themes page.
Import button location change
If you are on Guide Professional, Legacy or Enterprise, the button to import a theme has moved and is now located in the "Add new theme" tray menu. You find the Import button by clicking:
You can still also drag and drop files to anywhere on the themes page to import.
Why we made these changes
As we were researching projects to increase the options our customers have for getting the themes they want, we realised that the layout of themes on the themes page and the location of the import button did not scale well to accommodate the future development of the Guide theming experience.
The next addition to the Guide theming experience is the ability to fetch and update themes from GitHub (currently in EAP) which we will be launching for general availability soon.
When will this be available in my account?
The rollout of the themes page UI update has begun and should reach all accounts latest March 25th 2019.
