POST-MORTEM
On March 12th from 21:44 UTC (14:44 PDT) to 22:16 UTC (15:16 PDT), Zendesk Talk customers experienced dropped calls across all Pods.
Further analysis showed that Zendesk Talk customers experienced intermittent dropped calls due to delayed API responses from our Voice provider. API calls were delayed for call creation and due to additional latency, the voice service was unable to successfully transition some calls.
In order to avoid such a scenario in the future, our provider will be making necessary changes in servicing REST API requests and adding additional monitors and alerting to help identify and resolve the issues quickly.
