If you are on a Legacy Chat standalone account and use WordPress, you can add the Zendesk
Chat widget to your site. Choose one of the methods below to add Chat.
Note: If you are using
Zendesk Chat in the Web Widget, or are using Zendesk Chat + Support, see Setting up and
using the Zendesk Support for WordPress plugin.
To add the Zendesk Chat widget via plugins
- Click Plugins > Add New.
- Search for the Zendesk Chat app and click Install Now.
- After the plugin is installed, click Activate.
- Select Zendesk Chat from the menu on the left-hand side. When prompted, enter the credentials for your Chat-only account. This is usually an email address and password.
- Click Link Up to complete the setup process.
To add the widget via the Appearance menu
- Select Appearance > Editor.
- Paste your Zendesk live chat script in the Footer section, before the </body> tag. Note:To find your embed code, see Adding the Chat widget to your website.
- Click Update File.

Hi Karina,
I can't load your website and I see you have a support ticket open already. Are you still having the issue with the widget loading on your site using a mobile device?
Thanks,
Ramin

I cannot access your website from Singapore. Please send your latest website domain on your existing support ticket and the support team will help you out. The website needs to be accessible in Singapore/Philippines
If you don't remember your last ticket number, just email chat@zendesk.com

Hi there,
Is there any other way to embed the widget on my wordpress website? Because my current theme is conflicting with zendesk plugin , if the website is browsed by a mobile device.

Thanks
Hi Leonardo,
You can embed the widget using a tag manager or directly in the theme code. However, it most likely will not change the results of the theme you are using and how it conflicts with the widget.
I would contact the theme owner to see if this is something they can resolve in the theme itself.

PreSale:
We are planning to use chat plugin on fitoutconcepts.com . Is there any way to set open the chat on the click of a button named 'Get Connect' on the site?
Hey Alsheikh,
You would need to use the API along with some javascript to set up widget as an on click button. I would recommend taking a look at the How to show the Web Widget On Click for some guidance on how to set this up. While this article is specifically for configuring the web-widget it should help point you in the right direction with the Chat widget.
Hope this helps!
If we use google to sign into zendesk products how would I login using the plugin since their it's that option.
I've changed my zendesk support password as well and tried it with no luck.
Hi Scott,
You will want to use the Wordpress plugin for Zendesk Support and not the one for Chat. The Chat one is the legacy plugin for Chat standalone customers.
The Support plugin should offer the functionality of logging in with Google.
Thanks,
Ramin
Hi,
One of my prospect is looking to link up WordPress with Zendesk Chat but he is unable to do so. After entering the user name, password and subdomain he keeps getting "Could not log in to Zendesk Chat. Please check your login details".
Thanks,
Santhosh
Hey Santhosh,
Are they using an integrated Chat account alongside Zendesk Support? If they're using an integrated Chat account, they'll need to copy the widget code snippet into their Wordpress theme instead. More information in the following article: Using Web Widget to embed customer service in your website
They also have the option of using the Support plugin as mentioned here: Wordpress: Setting up and using the Zendesk Support for Wordpress plugin
I hope this helps!
and what if you cant edit your footer as its a custom theme and thats not exposed for editing?
(i can edit header and body)
What are the advantages to using the plugin method when you can just add the embed code within the header of the pages (i had it working that way)?
Mark Knight There are no real advantages. The plugin exists for people who use Wordpress and are not comfortable adding code. If you are comfortable, editing theme code gives you more flexibility in how you embed the widget on your website.
If your theme does not support editing of the footer, there are various Wordpress plugins that give you that functionality. This is one, for example: https://wordpress.org/plugins/header-footer/
Hello!
I have two websites
Here http://strymba.com I previously installed Zendesk according to the instructions above and everything works fine. Thanks!
But at the moment I am developing this website https://www.usabilitytesting.website and I need a chat that is only available for authorized users. How can I do this?
This is not very urgent at the moment, because I am just starting to develop a website, but this problem will be relevant soon, so I need your help.
Thanks
Arsen G you'll just want to add the Web Widget to the body content of your page once a user is logged in Wordpress.
