The integration between Twitter Direct Message in Zendesk Message was deprecated on Friday, August 17th, due to changes in the Twitter API.
This article covers the following topics:
What does this mean?
What this means for you and your support team:
- Twitter Direct Messages no longer work through Zendesk Message.
- You have the option to switch over to our Twitter integration with Support. Learn how to set it up here.
Am I affected?
You are affected if you or your team is using Zendesk Message for responding to direct messages from Twitter and have linked your Twitter handle. The integration is accessible at https://<subdomain>.zendesk.com/message/agent/settings/twitter or https://message.zopim.com/settings/twitter.
What do I need to do?
- You have the option to switch over to our Twitter integration with Support. Learn how to set it up here.
- Your direct message in Twitter is still available for response and can be found under Messages in your Twitter account.
Who should I contact if I need or have questions?
Please contact support@zendesk.com with any additional questions.

Are there any plans to try and bring this back, or somehow link it with Support? Otherwise, our agents are going to need to toggle between Support (just for Twitter DMs) and Messaging for everything else (Messenger, Line, Apple).
Or even bring the Messages features into Support so it's not in silos?
All the dates say "August 17, 2018", is that correct?
