What do the logout and reset API commands do in the Web Widget?
The two commands are part of a wider set of Web Widget core commands described in the developer documentation.
When a user is authenticated with Guide, an authentication token is created and stored locally. A Guide search request via the Web Widget returns public and restricted Guide articles.
Passing the logout command in a method call clears the local authentication token and the Guide searches. This results in search requests via the Web Widget only providing public articles.
In an authenticated Zendesk Chat session, a user has access to Chat history from previous Chat sessions. Calling logout clears out the Chat session, Chat history log, and any form data.
Reset clears the Guide search bar and form data.
