Question
When I promote an article, does the action send a notification to end users that follow the article or section it is published in? How do I notify users of updates to an article?
Answer
No, promoting an article will not notify its followers that the article was updated. If you would like to notify your users of changes to an article, there are a few ways to do so:
- Add a comment to the article summarizing the updates you made. Article subscribers will always be notified of new comments added to the article.
- Revert the article to draft mode and update it, then republish it. This will only notify users who subscribe to the section you're publishing the article in.

This isn't enough for many use-cases.

I tried this and had many users follow a particular section.

But there is a big problem...
When I added a new article, a notification email was delivered to all users, but some users took up to two hours to receive it, and some did not receive the notification.
Have you experienced such a case?
