Hey Lisa N - yes! You can filter your customer list down to only show suspended users by searching for: `is_suspended:true` - more details on the search syntax here. That'll let you limit your bulk delete selection to suspended users only.

Why is it that there was a simple checkbox for “filter by: only suspended users” and now after the “upgrade” we have to use “is_suspended:true”? To feel like real admins and to have tools only we can operate?

Why not offer a checkbox again or have a column for that to sort the list accordingly?

Hey Eckhard Doll - thank you for your feedback, we'll bear it in mind and consider it as a feature request.

The reason we opted for the search syntax approach is that it's lot more flexible. Previously, we were only able to filter suspended/unsuspended users for deletion with a checkbox. Now with the search syntax, much more powerful search queries can help admins hone in on the exact users to delete more easily.

For example, users to delete can easily be found by tag now by searching for `tags:spam`, or if an admin wanted to delete users created before a given date, searching for `created<2024-09-01` will help find them. Deleting users based on these kinds of conditions with the old Bulk Delete experience would have created a lot of manual work for Zendesk admins.

For more info on the flexibility of our search syntax, you can see our Search reference here: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408886879258-Zendesk-Support-search-reference

Hello Alex, I don't disagree with the approach being more flexible. But would having both option be too much to ask for?

Hey Lisa N  and Eckhard Doll

We have an update regarding a new experience for bulk deleting suspended users.

With the introduction of the Suspended Users page (Customers List > Suspended users), you can now filter down to the suspended users only and bulk delete them.

Hello! Is it possible to search deleted users by email using the API?

I can use the API to search for active users (by email), then delete them, then permanently delete. But if a user has been soft-deleted before, this approach won't work, because the initial search won't give me inactive users. Is there perhaps some special flag I could add to the query, so that inactive users are also returned? I could use the endpoint that lists all deleted users, but that's very inefficient, especially that it also returns permanently deleted users.
