Important: This integration is only available for customers using the Legacy versions of Zendesk Chat. For help determining which version you have, see Determining your Zendesk Chat account version.
You can install Zendesk Chat on Google Sites, but note that the position of the widget will be slightly different than it is on other sites, like in the example below:
To add the Zendesk Chat widget to Google Sites
- Log into your Google Site in Edit mode.
- Select Insert > More Gadgets.
- Select Add gadget by URL. Enter the following URL in the field:
http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/103531553223865859694/zopim-livechat.xml - Under Set up your gadget, enter your Zendesk Chat key, language, and colors.
- Click OK.

Hi all,
Are there any updated instructions for adding the widget to the new Google Sites? It does not support Gadgets anymore, but surely we're not the first company to have this need.
Any article I can find about it is 5 years old or more, before the new Sites launched, so the information is very outdated.
Hello Nate,
Unfortunately Google Sites do not give users access to the Document Head element of the webpage, and because it restricts the tags and set of JavaScript commands that can be used, it's not possible to embed the Zendesk web-widget. The web-widget only functions on sites where you have greater access to the html document and greater control over the code.
