By default, the Chat widget language is set to auto detect. With this option, the widget automatically appears in the language of the the visitor's current page.
You can turn off auto detect and select a single widget language instead. If you want to select multiple languages, you can do so using the API.
To set a single widget language
- From the dashboard, select Settings > Widget and click the Settings tab.
- Select a language from the drop-down list under General Preferences.
- Click Save Changes.
To set multiple widget languages using the API
- Use the API's setLanguageoption and the language codes in the table below.

Hi,
I can't see any language drop-down bar under "general preferences"
The language setting is only for legacy Chat widget accounts. If you are using the Web Widget, you will need to set the language using the Javascript API. You can learn more about that process here: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408839238042-How-do-I-change-or-set-the-language-in-the-widget-on-my-website-
