We are very excited to announce the general availability of the search crawler.
The search crawler lets you easily surface all the great self service content which is not hosted in your Help center to agents and end users when they search. This could be informative blog posts, pricing pages, courses in an LMS etc. Now you are able to easily bring that to agents and end users when they need it by setting up a crawler in just a few clicks.
Why did we build it?
When we first launched Federated search we made it possible to take all that helpful content from other place than the help center and surface it together with help center native content in Help Center search results, Knowledge in the context panel and via the Unified search API.
This has until now only been possible via the External content API and thus have required you to build and maintain your own integration.
With the search crawler you now have a no-code method for ingesting and maintaining public content that lives outside your help center.
How does it work?
In Guide search settings you can easily set up multiple crawlers to scrape and index content from one or more websites that you own. The crawler will run every 12-24 hours and scrape and index the content specified.
Once the content is indexed you can configure which content is surfaced in different help centers if you have a multiple help center setup as well as managing filtering options so end users can easily drill down to the most relevant search results.

What is plan availability?
The search crawler is available for the Suite Enterprise and Guide Enterprise plans.
