Starting August 31, 2022, Zendesk Text will no longer automatically shorten URLs that are part of an SMS message.
Why is this happening?
Because SMS messages have a 160 character limit, when you send a URL as part of a message, our provider Twilio currently automatically replaces the URL with a shortened version. However, Twilio will remove this capability on August 31, 2022.
What can I do?
There are a few workarounds you can use to resolve this issue:
- Don’t send URLs in text messages
- Type the full URL into the text message
- Use another URL shortening service to shorten the URL.
