We are excited to announce images in content blocks and a new image gallery, which introduces new tools for content reuse.
What’s changing, and why?
Content blocks provide an excellent opportunity to share content across your whole knowledge base. Until now you could only add text to content blocks. However, we realize that to create a truly comprehensive knowledge base for your customers you need to use various rich content types. This is why we are introducing the ability to add images to content blocks.
To add an image you can either drag and drop it into a content block or insert it into our new image gallery and place it from there. Once the image is placed, you can use the new tools available to resize and add alt text to the image from within the content block.
The new image gallery is on an account level, which means that it contains images used in the content block you are working on, as well as all images you’ve ever uploaded to any content block in the account.
The new gallery also gives you the ability to both replace an outdated image in all content blocks where it's being used with one click and to permanently delete the image.
How will this affect me?
If you are an Enterprise customer you’ll see this functionality in your content blocks within the launch period.
As a user of this feature, you should also be aware of a few temporary limitations:
- You can’t copy and paste images between content blocks and articles.
- If you unlink a content block (so that it becomes a part of the article), any images will be removed. You’ll need to add them again.
- When you create a content block from an existing part of the article containing the image, this image will be removed from a newly created content block and will need to be added again.
- The new image gallery is only available for the images uploaded to content blocks. Articles still have the old image gallery.
We’ll be working on removing those limitations in the future.
What do I need to do?
You don’t need to take any action. However, if you’re interested in learning more about creating content blocks see Working with the image gallery for content blocks.

This is a fantastic release! Is there any idea on timing around removing the limitation with the last bullet and expanding the image gallery to articles?

This is great!
However, is there a way to left justify images? We justify all of our images in our articles and right now I can only add them centered.
Morgan King, great to hear that you find it useful. We already started working on removing this limitation. I expect the release in early '23.
Lisa Sedlak, not a straightforward one, but we'll be adding it at some point in the future.
Katarzyna Karpinska +1 for expanding the image library across all articles. It would be great to get this released sooner than later - feels like a long time coming!
