We are excited to share the latest addition to Guide's content blocks - tables. You can now create content blocks from tables or create and edit tables within your content blocks. This enhancement helps you to neatly organize your data within content blocks, which can significantly improve readability of your articles. Once you create tables in your content blocks, it's easy to reuse them throughout your knowledge base.
This announcement includes the following topics:
What’s changing, and why?
Adding tables to content blocks has been a top request from our customers, and we're thrilled to deliver on that. Using tables in your content blocks lets you present complex information in a simple format, thereby improving the way you can present data in articles that use content blocks.
When you create or edit tables in your content blocks, you have access to a table formatting toolbar that lets you perform functions such as adding or deleting rows and columns, and adjusting table settings such as cell spacing and border width.
What's more, since you are using content blocks, once you create these tables, you can reuse the same table in different articles, ensuring consistency and saving time in your knowledge base. You can also create content blocks from existing tables in your knowledge base, which lets you create once, maintain centrally, and reuse in multiple places.
How will this affect me?
When you create or edit help center articles or content blocks, you’ll now see the tables tool added to your editor toolbar. You can click this tool to open the table editor, where you can configure the rows and columns for your table, and other formatting options.
If you are working in a content block, you can also access the table formatting tools by simply clicking in the table in the content block editor.
What do I need to do?
You don’t need to take any action. If you are an Enterprise customer, the new tables will be available in your content block editor. If you want to learn more about them see Help center article editor toolbar reference. If you would like to learn more about Content blocks see Reusing content with content blocks.
