What’s changing and why?
The Explore team is working on improving report loading speeds to deliver a better user experience while building and running reports. One of the common causes of slow report performance is misconfigured calculation formulas. To address this issue, one year ago we released an enhanced formula validator in the report builder that warns users about misconfigured calculations.
On April 11, 2024, we extended this functionality and added additional formula guardrails. Warning messages are surfaced to users in real time as they write or edit formulas, preventing them from saving misconfigured calculations and resulting in more accurate and faster reports.
On August 13, 2024, reports with misconfigured formulas will stop working, and an error message will be displayed instead.
Will this change affect my account?
If your account has calculation formulas that are incorrectly configured, you will now see reports and dashboards listed in the new Updates required category in your reports and dashboard libraries. All reports and dashboards that were run on or after April 11 and are affected by this update will be listed in this category.

What do I need to do?
There are two steps you will need to take: correcting the formula within a report and republishing any dashboards that include the affected reports. Don’t wait until August 13. Take these steps now, while your reports still function.
The short video below walks you through how to make changes to affected reports.
