Expected behavior:
The maintenance process should not impact customers using Sunshine Conversations and Agent Workspace Messaging, and no messages will be delayed or lost during this time.
What do customers have to do?
Customers are not required to take any action during these maintenance windows. Messages sent through Sunshine Conversations will continue to flow as usual, ensuring a seamless messaging experience for you.
What if something unexpected happens during a maintenance window?
Zendesk teams have thoroughly tested the tasks we need to perform on each pod to ensure our customers feel no impact. Due to the size of this maintenance program, we are notifying customers out of an abundance of caution. Our teams will closely monitor all of our related services during this time. If an unexpected event occurs during our work, our teams will swiftly work to resolve any issues encountered. If customers notice any of the following issues, please contact our Support team:
- High latency/delays in Sunshine Conversations and Agent Workspace Messaging
- HTTP 500 errors appearing in the product or browser console
- Message duplication in conversations
Why we're doing this:
The Zendesk SunCo team is performing this work to shard our datastore for increased stability and scalability (storage capacity and general performance improvements). Sharding is a type of database partitioning that separates large databases into smaller, faster, more easily managed parts called “shards”.

We have further details to confirm and had to delay the scheduled maintenance window for Pods 17, 23, and 25. We will follow up with additional information to confirm those times as soon as we can.
