Starting May 1, 2024, Apple is requiring app developers to have a privacy manifest file for their app that provides information about the data their app collects and the required reason APIs it uses. This includes the data collected and APIs used by third-party SDKs within their app. For more information, see Apple's official guidelines.
To support our customers in fulfilling this requirement, Zendesk SDKs now include a privacy manifest file. To utilize the privacy manifest, you must use one of the minimum SDK versions below. You can also refer to the privacy manifest for Mobile SDKs for details on collected data types and usage of required reason APIs in each SDK.
Note: Clicking the above privacy manifest link opens a Google Sheet in a separate tab. Click the sheets tab (located at the bottom) corresponding to the SDK you're interested in.
- Zendesk Messaging iOS SDK v2.19.2
- SunCo iOS SDK v12.2.2
- Support iOS SDK v8.0.2
- Answer Bot iOS SDK v5.0.3
- Chat iOS SDK v5.0.2
- Zendesk SDK for Unity v2.1.1
- Classic Unity SDK (For Classic Unity SDK, you will need to create a privacy manifest file by following the Apple Privacy Manifest guidelines in our developer documentation.)
Important: The list below highlights all data types that can be collected via our SDKs. Some of these data types are collected as default to support our service, and some of them can optionally be collected by customers to enhance their customer support service, such as name, email address, location, etc. You can see for each data type whether it is default or optional.
Note that our privacy manifest files only include the default data types that are collected for all customers. If you collect any optional data, you will need to cover them in your app’s privacy manifest file in order to be compliant with Apple’s privacy requirements.
Zendesk, with the exception of visitor screen data that must be provided by you via an API, does not use any SDK data for tracking purposes, but you might use data captured with Zendesk SDKs for tracking purposes of your own, which may require the answers below be updated accordingly. The content of this article is for your general information and use only. The data collected by SDKs is subject to change and we may update this article from time to time with new information. This article is intended for informational purposes only, and you should consult with your own legal or compliance teams to ensure that you are complying with Apple’s requirements and any applicable laws when using the Zendesk SDKs. If you identify a discrepancy with the information in this article, please report it to us.
