We're announcing a change to the Incremental Export API to exclude changes made in the minute preceding a request.
This announcement includes the following topics:
What is changing?
Until now, the Incremental Export API attempted to include data up to the moment of the request. However, this can lead to data inaccuracies, so we're changing this behavior. Now, all ticket creation and updates that occur in the minute preceding the request are excluded.
The API will account for this in the recorded end time, so it can pick up seamlessly where it left off for subsequent requests.
See Exporting ticket events and the Incremental Ticket Event Export API.
Why is Zendesk making this change?
Zendesk is dedicated to providing accurate data. This change prevents the possibility of returning bad data caused by race conditions, which can occur when multiple changes are performed on a ticket in a short period of time. Without the one minute delay, the data you receive from the Incremental Ticket Events API may not represent the actual state of the ticket.
Therefore, Zendesk is introducing a limit on the timeframe available to the Incremental Ticket Events API. This new limit will exclude resources created or updated within the last minute.
Am I affected?
This change affects all Zendesk Support customers who use the Incremental Ticket Events API, but will only be noticed by customers expecting to see the latest minute of ticket data in their results.
What do I need to do?
No action is required. The last minute of results will not be included in the resulting API payload and the timestamp returned for a following request will reflect where the API left off. However, you may want to inform any of your teams that rely on this endpoint that they won't see the most recent minute of activity.
