What is changing?

The Configuration Management EAP will consist of four phases:

  1. Inspecting account configurations for your Zendesk environments
  2. Saving versions of an environment's configurations
  3. Comparing configurations of your Zendesk environments
  4. Deploying configurations from production to a sandbox environment

Phase 1 - Inspecting configurations

With the first phase of the Configuration Management EAP, you can inspect your account configurations for sandbox and production environments.

For more information, see Inspecting sandbox and production account configurations (EAP).

Phase 2 - Saving versions of configurations

The second phase of this EAP makes it possible to save snapshots of your environment's configurations for future reference. This offers a more complete view of changes than the individual revision history provided for some types of configurations, such as triggers.

For more information, see Saving and managing historical versions of environment configurations (EAP).

Phase 3 - Comparing saved versions of configurations

The third phase of this EAP allows you to compare saved versions of any of your environment's configurations. This can help you identify differences and make changes as needed.

For more information, see Comparing saved versions of environment configurations.

Phase 4: - Deploying configurations from production to sandboxes

The fourth phase of this EAP adds the ability to deploy configurations from a saved version of production to a sandbox account. This allows you to keep the sandbox in sync with production rather than having to delete it and create a new one that reflects updated settings and configurations.

For more information, see Deploying configurations from production to sandbox environments.

Why is Zendesk making this change?

Together, these four features streamline the management of configuration settings across your Zendesk environments. They mitigate the current challenges associated with manually creating and maintaining triggers, automations, custom fields, and other aspects of your Zendesk setup in multiple environments.

What do I need to do?

To participate in this EAP, you must:

  • Have an active instance of Support Enterprise, Zendesk Suite Enterprise, or Zendesk Suite Enterprise Plus
  • Have at least one active sandbox environment
  • Be interested in sharing information about your experience with these features

If you meet the criteria, you can sign up to participate in the EAP. After signing up, you'll receive additional instructions as well as notifications of new functionality within the EAP.
