Disabling social sharing from articles in knowledge base (KB)
I am looking to disable social sharing (to LinkedIn, Twitter, etc) from articles that I publish in the knowledge base. This is because we are using the knowledge base as a part of an internal help desk solution.
I found an older post that suggested tweaking the HTML code under the "Customise Appearance" option, however this link doesn't appear to take me to HTML code. Perhaps that worked in an earlier version of Zendesk.

@William - You can remove the social icons however you must be on a plan that is able to customize the Help Center. In order to customize the Help Center you must be on a Regular Plan and above. If you are on the Starter Plan you will not be able to remove the social sharing. What plan do you currently have?

Hi Wes,
I am on the Starter Plan. Thanks for clarifying.

@William - Not a problem, not sure if this will work or not but you could sign up for a free trail then you will be able to customize the Help Center, remove the social icons and then let your account downgrade back to the Starter. Not sure if it would then add them back or not but you could give it a try. If you go this route on the HTML tab select "Articles". Then remove the {{share}} placeholder from the code and the social icon will then disappear.
Best of luck.

Hi William!
I don't know if I saw my other post; on the Starter plan you don't have access to the CSS, JS, or HTML in your Help Center. If you want access to that you'd need to upgrade, even temporarily (this would be an option if you pay month-to-month, but if you pay annually, you won't be able to downgrade again until the end of your annual cycle).
I was also able to discover that Humble Squid and Curious Wind don't have the {{share}} placeholders enabled by default, so you could use those instead.
Hope that helps!

Good to know about Humble Squid and Curious Wind not having the social share, because I do believe that would be a HIPAA violation for us.

@wes how could we disable it on certain articles only? Any way we could add a tag and make that work? Or remove from organisation only articles?
-
@Andrew - Yes we could add a tag to an article and hide the sharing for that article. Hit me up on SLACK if you need some help with the code.

Hi, is there a way to add social sharing to WeChat and Weibo from our Chinese zendesk sections? One example of how it might look is shown below
-
Hey Ashley -
I don't believe we have those integrations at this time.
-
what about adding an icon with a fixed hyperlink? i just need to add one more icon alongside the existing facebook, twitter ones

Hey Ashley!
If you're using Guide Professional, you'd be able to add those links to the HTML for the pages you want them to appear on.
As for the social sharing you described in your first comment, it might be possible to do it with some custom JavaScript, but that's a level of customization we're not able to assist you with ourselves. It's possible some members of the Community might have some guidance for you though.

It would be great if Zendesk would provide a toggle to disable social sharing. Reading the above, it appears I need to customize my theme in order to hide these options, at which point I lose all updates and enhancements to the OOB themes. I don't want customers sharing my confidential and proprietary content, and in order to do so, I will now need to maintain a custom theme.
I vote for a setting to control the option. Thanks!

There is not an upvote option on the comment by Jaime Slocum, so just replying with I agree, but it at the same time acknowledging having seen similar requests it may not happen.

Hey Jaime!
Thanks for sharing that feedback! If you're up for it, I'd encourage you post about this in our Product Feedback topic and include all the detail of your use case. I wasn't able to find an existing post on this but you can create a new post; this will ensure that our Product Managers see your suggestion!

Will do. Thanks Jessie.
