Deploy from Sandbox to Production

The ability to be able to export/deploy triggers and automations from Sandbox to Production would be very helpful. Manually recreating items tested in the Sandbox can be a bit of a drag.

Without this feature, the sandbox feature is of no use to us. It's simply too much work to recreate our production environment manually in the sandbox.

Definately a good idea.  If one spends 4 hours developing an idea, but then cant export the developments... you have to create those changes again?

I dont use sandbox currently, as we are not on the plus plan... so take my comment as a blind one.  We may be in the near future though.

I'm pleased to advise that Coherence Design - ( http://www.coherencedesign.co.uk/zendesk-implementation/) have now developed a capability to export and import all configuration elements (triggers, automation, targets, custom fields, widgets, macro, and views). This will serve as the basis for a commercial web service and widget UI to enable staging promotion to a production environment and many other scenarios, including version control.

This will be launched shortly, but please contact me ( graham.robson@coherencedesign.co.uk) if you want to get involved at a beta project level.

Agreed.  It would also be really nice to have the option to Recreate production environment in a Sandbox.  The Sandbox is useless to me because I have no data to work with.  At least some of the information like tickets from the last 30 days, a certain amount of users and agents, etc.

This should absolutely be a sandbox function.

Is this in the pipeline for Zendesk?

This is a good idea and should absolutely be implemented.

An estimates for when we can see this feature?  Thank you Zendesk.

    +1 Sam's request

The option of replicating Production on Sandbox would also be required. Your new trigger may work on your Sandbox but how can you check the same result live, where you probably have several triggers and there's more probability for conflicts?

I believe this is a similar topic thread, where Jake decided to respond to the issue.  It is not high enough of a priority for them, unfortunately.  https://support.zendesk.com/entries/132733-replicating-your-config-on-your-sandbox

I just added in some custom ticket fields to test them and now have to transfer them over, another hour's work.... this would be a great feature to have....

    Hey,

For you triggers and automation deployment, you can try our tool :  https://github.com/fourmation/ZenDeskMigration

The tool will improve a lot soon!

Vincent, will your tool also go the other way?  That is, replicate your current production configuration to your sandbox?  I think that's really important functionality, so you can a) create a copy of production on sandbox, then b) play around on sandbox with configuration and functionality, and then when everything is tested and you're ready to go live, you can c) move sandbox to production.

    Hey Adam,

Yes ! You can setup your sandbox from your current config, export your production config with the tools (to save the config if there is issues) and deploy on the production. I will clarify the documentation to have a complete use case as you describe it. The project is currently a beta, but there was a lot of tests and I will add a lot of unit tests to ensure all is correct :)

    Awsome, looking forward to it!

Another vote here for the ability to make the sandbox a copy of the production environment and vice versa.

As it is, it is a potentially useful tool but no use for testing if you either have to test in a different environment from live, or have to recreate your production site in the sandbox before you can test.

And then, once you have  built the new stuff in the sandbox, you need to be able to export to the live environment.

I find the sandbox completely useless! How can I test things if I can not mimic my production Zendesk?!?!?!?!

really hope to see Zendesk add synchronization between Prod and Sandbox environments.  I guess you can add me to the list of people wanting this

@Vincent the link in your first post to the Github repository doesn't work

Would be very interested to know if there is any progress on this feature.

The ability to clone existing Zendesk settings into a sandbox and then deploy with updates would be a huge timesaver

Please do not look overlook the offering from Coherence Design mentioned in this thread 4 years ago. This is very much live now and for those who say that this functionality is essential to them, I guess a reasonable one-off cost is not going to put you off from getting something you need.

Although my name comes up with the label "Moderator" beside it, I do not work for Zendesk, I am a customer like almost everyone else here. I am a customer of Coherence Design also and have never regretted it. I would prefer something that was free of course but whilst I originally wrote my own tool using the api, what is available commercially was well worth the money in my view.

    Hi,

This is not a good solution. I am not looking for yet another partner. We also have the Enterprise version and it is a bit mind boggling that Zendesk does not offer this feature yet. I get it it might be a lot of extra engineering required. So what, your customers want this feature.

    Rgds,

Fair enough. But this might be the right solution for others so I wanted to put it out there especially for those who, like me, initially started by writing their own api based tool to do this.

so, there is still no way to migrate a new ticket form (with all its ticket fields) from sandbox to production? I created a new ticket form (and new ticket fields) on sandbox, now that they are approved I have to recreate everything one by one on production. That's a bit frustrating.

This has been kicking around for 5 years, boggle.   What use is the sandbox without a migration/promotion feature.
