Update on this one: the beta is over and the feature is now generally available. Check out the announcement post for more details!

The reason for this request is so that we can use methods to mask URL's because:

    1. URL's can sometimes be very long and look messy in an email notification, especially when the macro has plenty of text in it as it is.

    2. If youre like us, you've got an HTML template that is used for all your email notifications, and that sometimes breaks when there is a very lengthy URL in it.

I am shocked no one else has asked for this either! I only just realized I can't use HTML in macros and so came out to find out if I was just missing it or if it was a known thing. I figured I'd find duplicate requests for this.

Yeah, we need it for the same reasons...long article names I need to reference in the macros and so would be nice to do a 'click** here to learn more' kind of a thing where **here is a hyperlink to whereever else it is I want them to go so they can read the article to which I'm pointing, etc.

I'm really surprised this isn't enabled already. Are we SURE we aren't just missing this somewhere?

@Dee: I hope we're not missing it somewhere as I'd go tomato red with embarrassment having used Zendesk for 2 years now!

Zendesk team, any updates on this? At least some feedback to advise whether this function actually is available or not, and if not, when we may possibly see this feature or if there is something that is stopping your team from developing it at the moment?

We are working on Markdown support, which would allow you to insert formatted comments into your tickets via macros.  Please see the discusssion here: https://support.zendesk.com/entries/14098-formatted-text-in-tickets-not-forum

    Zendesk,

When will Zendesk add the functionality for Customer Service to embed hyperlinks in Macro's? This is a very important feature that we need.

    Thanks,

    Shana

We're currently using Zendesk and the Macro's are terrific, however i find that we keep getting stuck with the limitations. For instance, we'd love to be able to add a table in our macros....

Please advise if this is something i can expect to see any time soon.

    Thanks!

Here we go again. It's now 2016. Where are we with this obvious need?

Why do so many feature requests go unmet for so many years?

It's quite simple, if the functionality exists in a ticket, then it should also exist as a macro.  This one is particular is so simple.  I'm mean I can even put HyperLinks in this post right here in the support board.

I'm glad it's marked as "Planned,"  we're looking forward to seeing this update make it to production.

Markdown is broken now in macros since Zendesk switched to WSYIWYG for their comment box. Some markdown works, but code block, block quotes and inline code are broken. Can we get an eta for when we can expect WSYIWYG for macros, or at least ability to use HTML?

I'd very much like this to happen as well.

We want to create macros that refer to articles in our help center, but we cannot use url links in macros.

We do not have a WYSIWYG editor in macros yet. But you can still use markdown in macros. This will allow you to create hyperlinks to articles in your help centre.

    Here is an example:

    Thanks, that worked perfectly!

    Hi all,

Quick update here: we have started on the work to incorporate the rich text editor into macros. This will include both attachments as well as inline images. Essentially the same editing experience that you have in tickets today you'll have in macros once we're finished.

    Best,
    Erin

    Hi @erin

Is there any progress on this? We would love this functionality as well.

I'd love to be able to use HTML in macros.  What's the current status on this?  Do I need to sign up for a beta version?

If I can't use html, is there an alternative way to create a link for a telephone number?
