Just one thing, I can't get it to work? Do I need to restart Chrome or at least open a fresh tab to my Zendesk?

+1 for the auto refresh feature on the views page. Zendesk - This is stupid already. Add the refresh feature please.

Tons of users have been asking for this feature for years now. We had a custom widget on the "Classic" version.

Maybe that can be be made to work again?

Not sure how to post the code here.

I appreciate the work you guys put into the chrome extension, but most of my team uses Firefox.

Anyone want to make an extension for that? LOL

Take a look at the chrome extension by Amrish here,  https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/zendeskrefresh/fienhnlhhg...

If you are using Safari then Tonni has one here,  https://github.com/ta/zendesk-refresh/releases

I can vouch for the Chrome extension, works a treat.

    Thanks Jim,

I did those. Problem i have is my team uses Firefox, and none of them want to switch to Chrome of course.

+1 we are trialing ZD and this was one of the first things pointed out by our support staff.

ZD really has some serious cool features but this is a basic feature you would expect!

+1 to this, our team needs this very badly to enhance the support ticket responding time.

+1.  Looking at moving over support for our company and blocked by this.  No chance of rolling out a solution where you can be replying to a stale ticket (since no refresh) and miss inbound tickets (by queues not auto-updating).

I tried the Chrome extension on Mac and it doesn't appear to be working with the new interface.

Apologies for the extra post, but meant the Safari extension on Mac.  For various reasons, including the performance/sleep optimizations in Safari, we won't be switching over to Chrome at this time.  Thanks.

    Tim Webb,

The safari extension should be working - it works for me (i'm the author). If you enable Developer Tools in Safari and open the Error Console, you should see message like this:

[Log] Zendesk Refresh: Document changed state to hidden - stop refresh timer
[Log] Zendesk Refresh: Document changed state to visible - start refresh timer
    [Log] Zendesk Refresh: Refresh triggered

You are welcome to create an issue at https://github.com/ta/zendesk-refresh/issues if you still don't think it is working :)

If you're a Chrome user, these may be of some use.

    • Zendesk Activity Stream by Zendesk
    • Zen Desk Ticket Notifications by Lereve Labs
    • Support Notifications by Daniel Abrahamsson

Just trying these out and I think I like Support Notifications 1.3.1 best because it interrupts you, no matter what you're doing, with a pop up in the lower right. This is nice for folks doing multiple things and not just a support agent, like me! ...At least I think it's Support Notifications 1.3.1 doing this. I have 4 extensions installed for Zendesk at the moment.

    My 2 cents:

Just do a recursive setTimeout() function that contains an ajax call as if I had clicked the button.  Set the timeout to go off every 3 minutes or so.  This is how we handle this situation for live reporting in our office.

This sounds like something that could be solved with websockets:

    https://github.com/firebase/emberFire

    https://www.firebase.com/

You can have your backend notify a realtime frontend so there is no need for the refresh icon.

We too would also like auto-fresh.

We will not be moving to the new Zen desk until an auto-fresh is implemented.

Clicking refresh takes longer than them the auto-fresh.

+1 on auto refresh of Views. Seems pretty inconvenient that the views are not updated unless moving around in zendesk.

Of cause it should refresh ...  why let supporters think that there is nothing in the queue or let two work on same?

Also you can avoid a lot of pointless page requests. Would love to see you push to client when updates are available.

Agents use Zendesk like a mailbox.  Our organization is new to Zendesk, and I'm surprised that auto-refresh got missed as a core functional requirement.

We are new to Zendesk and would also like to see the auto refresh function built in. The Chrome extension is not working. Any ideas?

Spock was certainly a creature of habit. Just like frequently finding things "highly illogical," he was easily fascinated, as well. Just take a look. - REFRESH!

Two years ago Max McCal said this was in roadmap... but it looks like still is not there.
    How long yet?

Please this is really a basic feature that everybody needs and should be there!

+1 for this. auto-refresh is definitely needed. BTW if you use and auto refresh browser plugin it breaks the zopim chat and you have to relogin to chat so that's not really an option if you use chat.

We are just trialing Zendesk and this is the only thing that is missing from Zendesk imo. I wan't to keep Zendesk open in my second monitor and immediately see when new messages arrive.
