Show custom notification banner like Zendesk's notification (Web portal)

Have you ever seen the yellow Zendesk's notifications banner at the bottom of menu? Like "Service will be unavailable between....".

Do you want to have your own? I'll show how. For example you want to notice your customers about your webinar.

Create Global Javascript widget and place next code:

In variable "banner" I placed a sample link to forum entry with details. If you do not need inserting such link you can delete it.

<a href=' https://yourdomain.zendesk.com/entries/21786162 ' onclick='HideBanner();'>Details</a> about webinar.

You can set up cookie time to live in next line.

$j.cookie('hide_banner', 'yes', { expires: 3 });

In this example it'll be 3 days.

    Can this be done in Help Center?

    @Sue yes this can be done in Help Center although the code is a little different.  We currently have this in our Help Center if an article is Promoted and the Title starts with "Issue:" then a yellow bar pops up at the top of Help Center which will give that title and link back to the article.  Let me see if this will fit into a default ZenDesk theme as our Help Center has been heavily modified.  I'll try and write up a tip on this and post the link back here.

    Can this be done on the agent interface in Lotus, just like the Zendesk maintenance notifications? If we want to make an announcement to the agents, this would be a really quick and efficient way of doing so.

    @Demosthenes - I would recommend using the Text app from Zendesk if you would like to make announcements to your agents.  You can add it from the Zendesk marketplace.  More info here:  https://www.zendesk.com/apps/text/

    Thanks, we currently have the text app active. Unless I'm missing a setting, the text cannot be viewed unless viewing a ticket. I'd like the option to push a notification to the agents once they log in for the day. Also, some agents don't use apps for their day-to-day duties.

    Yes you are correct you only see the app when viewing the ticket so this might not be a good solution for you.  At this time there is not a way to show notifications directly into the Agent Interface.  I would recommend you search for something similar in the Product Feedback forum or create a new post there so others can vote it up.  Goodluck.
