I have a client that utilizes ZenDesk and is hoping to leverage SSO.
Their desired use case would be either one of two things.
First option, a user visits the WordPress site and logs in with their ZenDesk credentials. This user while logged in can then use the WooCommerce plugin for eCommerce functionality to make purchases.
My understanding is that this wouldn't be possible, first because I do not see any indication that there is a way to remotely authenticate a ZenDesk user when they are logging into the WP site, but also because eCommerce requires other data that has to be save in association with the user, so a local WP based user account would be required. Happy to be proven wrong if that's the case.
Second option would be the normal approach, that the users had a WP based user account that using the SSO options becomes authenticated for access to the clients ZenDesk portal (without having to re-log in on ZenDesk). This part is straight forward, the kicker is that what if this user previously existed on ZenDesk and has current or old tickets? Is there a way to link the new WP user account with an existing ZenDesk account so that the user can still see their tickets?
