    Hi Thor!

Hope you are having a great week and thanks for your suggestion on making the chat widget perform better on mobile responsive sites.

Currently, clicking the chat button on a mobile device will open the chat widget in a new tab for the visitor. We are looking into improving this experience and will let you know once we have something worth sharing :)

    Cheers,

    Ramin

    Hi Thor,

You can get all the information about the changes in the blog post here: https://blog.zopim.com/2015/11/24/the-finest-chat-experience-on-mobile-devices/

That’s great news….however, when I select within Zendesk “Mobile site” the chat widget doesn’t show up when viewing over a phone. We have to turn that off forcing people on mobile phones to use the full version of the site in order for the chat widget to show up.

@Manuel, you can use the JS API to change the offset of the button so it doesn't clash with your menu. Link to the JS API docs

@Thor Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, the help center team are not looking to allow for the mobile layout to be customised and that blocks the ability for you to add the Zopim widget. Instead, the team is investing time in making all default themes responsive. The current solution would be to build your own responsive theme and add the Zopim widget that way, here is a post on the topic:

If you don't have the resources to build your own responsive theme, I would recommend waiting until the help center team ships the responsive default themes. Or you can turn off the mobile layout for your help center.

Hi its almost close to a year now since an update.

When will you have get the ability to customize the help center so we can add the Zopim widget to it???

Would be so helpful to have it when your a company with a lot of mobile users who want to chat with you.

The post you refer to here does not exist anymore, can you update the url?

    Hi Ronald,

The help center team launched a new responsive theme a couple months ago that supports the overlay mobile chat widget.

You can learn more about the new theme here: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/220672108-Copenhagen-a-new-responsive-theme-for-Help-Center

My understanding is the help center team have no immediate plans to update the old mobile help center view to include a chat option.

Here is the link that was broken but is kind of irrelevant now that we have our own responsive theme in help center: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/203459556-Help-Center-Custom-Responsive-Theme-1
