Context-sensitive help

    Hi Alan,

We are in the process of doing this and are using the API. I have someone more technical than me who is working on this so I can't speak to the details but can speak to the generalities of it.

We are also looking to have the articles be within the context of where the user is in our software so we are connecting each section in the help center with the different areas of the software. We decided against going to the article and screen level because of the sheer amount of articles and screens that we have.

This project is currently in progress but not a priority since we don't need it to be available until the end of the year but if you have specific questions, I can run them by my team and see if they can help.

    Thanks,
    Maggie

    Thanks for the reply, Maggie.

    Here's a couple of questions:

What mechanism are you using to display the articles? Are you using the Web Widget, or some other means?

We aren't using the Web Widget - we couldn't find a way to get it to work with the contextual help so we abandoned using it.

Right now, we are using a web page that is being coded by our dev team (using the API) and then styled by our UX team. We are at the beginning stages of the project and they are still experimenting with how they want to approach it.
