I would like to request that the X-axis be given customization options that allow for "forcing" of the X-axis range values.
I've done some searching but didn't seem to find anything in Feedback on Explore. Additionally, the Zendesk service rep that assisted me with my original query of how to do this suggested I start a post here. I did find an Insights Q&A question that captures the idea, though: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/213168147-Showing-future-dates-in-x-axis
The queries I frequently care about are monthly, where I check for daily data that occurs within the timespan of just March or just December, etc. However, the graphical display will not show X-axis entries for dates with no data.
The "Use time axis" option does insert 0-valued X-axis entries, but it only does so for points in time within the range of available data. In the image below, even with "Use time axis" selected, there is no way to force the 0-valued dates at the beginning of the month to appear. In the image below, there are no entries for 2020-04-01 through 2020-04-05:
The way I see this working (at least for X-axis values of time/date), is having a conditional option under "Use time axis" sort of like this:
I wouldn't mind seeing this for any style of Xaxis but it's probably mostly or only applicable to time ranges.
It would be nice to be able to force the end range to be, say, 31 regardless of the actual month. I realize that months with fewer than this will not make sense, but for dates like Feb 30th and Feb 31st it would be nice to have it as N/A so that the visual width/scaling of any graph is identical as long as the range is identical. In other words, using my first image again, Apr 31 would just be N/A if the end range was 31 (and so on for whatever end range was chosen):
