There are instructions here (https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001948367-Adding-multiple-article-section-and-category-templates-to-your-theme-Guide-Enterprise-) for creating additional templates for ZD Guide. I followed those directions and successfully created a new article template.
The reason for a content template is to have a common content structure for new article (topics). But when I create a new article (topic) and base it on the template, my authoring view is blank.
The kicker here is, when I preview the page, I see the content in my template. It shows up in the output after any test I enter in the authoring view:
I tried adding this code between these div elements in the default article template that this template was based upon:
The goal here is to have this content structure in the authoring view as a starting point for new articles. (I also would prefer to have a text stub as the article title too, but I'm not quite sure where that goes.)
What am I missing in terms of how templating works in ZD Guide, can I achieve what I want, and if so, how?
