URL custom field type
Posted Mar 08, 2021
My apologies if this has been discussed. I tried to search.
Is there any plans for a URL type custom field?
I'm honestly shocked it's not available by now.
Thanks in advance.

We would also like to see a custom field on the ticket that is a URL that would have an option or button beside it that agents can click to launch that URL.

Same here. Our use case is to provide a link to documentation for the organization. This would make it easier for our agents to find information regarding the organization.

My team would benefit greatly from this field, especially when exporting a view that would contain this ticket field. Currently, we have to create an internal comment that has the hyperlink.

I echo that. We need that as well.

Ditto. Definatly would be a good development.

Yes, it would be great to have a ticket field for a dynamic external link.

We need this too! I'm surprised this is not an option

I would also like that. My use case is to provide a link to the agent to open a window in the IdM app for password resets and system lookup. If I could deep link into the Registrar's system, I would add that too.

We need this as well.

We link to invoices and credit notes in Xero. It would be nice to make them clickable.

I must admit, I am impressed with some of the features, but there are many things that ZenDesk lacks that are making me have buyers regret.. this is one of them.

Albert Lechuga you aren't the only one. There are a number of things that we feel should be native to Zendesk and yet either you have to try and use a 3rd party app or there is no way of achieving what you need.
Sorry to say this Zendesk but I have been seriously looking at other platforms for our customer service team and also to maintain our customer experience.

Mind blowing its not available. Seriously its 2022 not 1980, how could this have been left out of the dev cycle?

Rolf Hayes
Not just that Dave but its a year and a half since the start of this thread. I can't think it needs that long to add this dev.
Perhaps Zendesk don't look at many of these posts.

We need a custom ticket field to open our ERP system and jump directly to all details for end-user or organization.

Bumping this up. Zendesk, this would be an easy add which would allow us to add links to supporting applications used for solving tickets. We would love to update our ticket forms to collect metadata and use it to create dynamic links for agents, reducing the number of clicks they need to pull up information related to a problem. Seems like a small lift, we hope you think so too and add it to a roadmap. Thanks!

Lol, you need an external app to have clickable links?
Bumping up this!!!

Zendesk please, it's just one line of code

Dito!

This seems to be a no-brainer. We need to link to another system out of a ticket. The triple click copy and paste is a unnecessary delay.

Is there any progress regarding this feature request?
Is this feature on a roadmap? It would be nice, if a Zendesk PO or any Community Manager could share the status.

Is there any workaround to make a clickable link in a ticket field?
2
Rolf Hayes
If there is a workaround, I would welcome this even though it should be native by now.
I don't think we'll see it any time soon with the request for the dev work having been only 3 years ago and it looks like custom status development to more than 10 years to get developed.
Just saying ZD team. Please give us an update on whether this is something that will be developed or not and if yes a time scale.

Big no brainer from my perspective. Make it a field type.
