Agreed. Searching by placeholder or by the dynamic content title would both be HUGE improvements to DC. To be honest, I feel searching by title should've been a part of the MVP of Dynamic Content

This would be a huge enhancement if possible. The placeholder is our reference point for all DC so its extremely cumbersome to attempt to identify a variant of the DC to search with when we already have the placeholder from the system itself

I agree! I feel like this should be a basic functionality - which in this case are missing. We operate with many dynamic content (DC) placeholders because of multi language support. And it's tiresome to find the correct dynamic content when you need to make an update or have a look at it. There are also no URL to a dynamic content, so you can't add a specific URL to a DC in another system.

Upvote, search by placeholder to locate and edit the DC should be a really basic function to use with Dynamic content. It's been really painful to go through the long list of Dynamic content and don't know which is which.

+1! I tried to search the specific macro title last week using the Dynamic content search, I was not able to find it. I prefer to search by macro name or placeholder in the search bar. Thank you!

+1, as now macro titles can be DC, it's going to be extremely necessary to be able to search these more efficiently.

    Thanks for the feedback, all.

We understand the need to be able to search through dynamic content given it is a widely popular and useful feature. Significant work is being planned for 2022 and 2023 to expand the usefulness and improve the user experience in the Support search space. This feedback is extremely valuable and important to us.

Are there any updates on this? Is there a roadmap of some kind so we know when to expect updates? It's incredible difficult to search for dynamic content if you have a lot of it in multiple languages at the moment

+1 for the suggestion, it would be extremely helpful to be able to search for dynamic content via titles.  Please let us know if there are any updates on this.

+1 we are trying to be more efficient by utilizing dynamic content but being unable to search via title makes it difficult to locate the correct placeholder which wastes time

Thanks, Preethi for your reply on August, but it's been almost a whole year now. Is there any update?

And thank you guys for your replies. A quick workaround I do is since the search bar of Macros is better than DCs, I put the link of the DC in the macro description to find the DC easily whenever I need to update the content. I thought it would help you as a temporary solution.

    Dear Zendesk Team,

I want to echo a sentiment that has been reverberating in this support forum for over two years now. The specific issue at hand, as many of us have expressed in the past, pertains to the difficulty of locating specific Dynamic Content (DC) through keyword searches, titles, and placeholders.

In September 2021, a representative from Cambly aptly pointed out this challenge, stating, "It'll be a great help if we can just search by placeholder to locate and edit the DC." As someone who has also experienced this problem, I can testify to the inconvenience of not being able to use search reliably.

I reached out to your support team this month (October 2023) hoping for a solution or at least an update on the progress. The response I received was rather disheartening:
"The search functionality is still in the early stages of development and is not optimized to accommodate all the cases." I was also informed that "Dynamic content titles are not yet searchable, unfortunately."

To say that this functionality is still "in the early stages" after more than two years, especially when it's a critical aspect for many users, comes across as neglectful, if not dismissive, of genuine user needs. At the very least, it is puzzling considering Zendesk's reputation as an industry leader.

To further highlight the significance of this issue, I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that no fewer than 11 other users in the forum have voiced the same concern. Zendesk had acknowledged this problem in August 2022, but it appears there has been no forward movement since that acknowledgment.

The ability to effectively navigate and manage our content is fundamental to our operations. It's not an advanced feature or a luxury; it's a basic necessity. The absence of this functionality not only diminishes our operational efficiency but also our trust in the platform.

Therefore, I implore you to treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it warrants. The minimum expectation from a platform such as Zendesk should be the ability to search for Dynamic Content titles, a feature which, as of now, remains absent.

We, as dedicated Zendesk users, need and deserve better. I sincerely hope that Zendesk will prioritize and expedite the development of this crucial feature, thereby reaffirming its commitment to its users. Otherwise, something as useful as Dynamic Content becomes a challenge and it increases the time spent (wasted) on maintaining it.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to seeing tangible improvements soon.

For everyone following this topic.. There's an app known in the Marketplace: Macro Suite, which does just these things for Dynamic Content (and so much more)..

    • Search for titles, descriptions and placeholders
    • Create filters to manage locales on a regular basis
    • Edit locales on a single page for each DC item
    • Locale management in a single table
    • Import/export (configurable) on Dynamic content
