Cannot remove description field on Jira Integration

I am currently working on an integration (Jira/Zendesk) for a client.

When you create a Jira issue using the integration, the "description" field is required and it cannot be removed.

My client uses other custom text-fields instead ('Scenario', 'Given', 'When', 'Then'), so it'd be redundant, if the description field were there.

As it is not a required field in Jira itself, it shouldn't be required on the integration.

We would also like to have the capability to unrequire the description field based upon what is required in Jira as we sometimes require descriptions, and sometimes do not! Good to know I'm not crazy, I've been going through various schemes and screens in Jira to figure out how to impact that in the integration, but looks like it's required in the integration on the ZD side!

Hi @... , we also need this because the Description field isn't required on all our Jira projects.

It should be optional to require Description, since that is not default required by Jira but configured as required or not at each project and even issue type within Jira projects. Doesn't make sense why ZD is demanding it.

 

 This would enable a better integration from ZenDesk to Jira and enable customer workflows to be more efficient and customizable.
