Possible to order tickets by the latest comment?

Is it possible to order tickets by the latest comment?

By latest update doesn't work since it takes into account the changes in tags based on automations.

If you make a custom view, I think you can select latest requester comment, not sure if you can order by this. I'll have a look.

Yes, you can order views ascending or descending. Edit your views in settings>views and you'll see the options at the bottom.

I have several custom views, and I'm aware of the different sorting and ordering options.

The problem is that since by latest update doesn't work since it takes into account the changes in tags based on automations, I wanted something that orders by the date that you can see in the ticket at the top of the last comment, be it from the requester or from the assignee by public or internal note.

If it can't be done by zendesk, by itself, can you recommend an app that can serve this purpose acting as an extension?

You can find those setting in the following section.

I would like to see more flexibility in how we can order views by update times as well.  Robert describes a simple solution that hits a pretty nice balance between the current options.

Currently we can choose between.

  • Latest update
  • Latest Update by Assignee
  • Latest Update by Requester

We also have the option to show Updater Type (End User/Agent).

However, these each have flaws in them.  As an agent, I want to understand where the conversation is with my customer.  Have we spoken to them?  Have they spoken to us? As I start using automations in my workflows tags and other ticket updates start to cause my last update time to drift away from the conversation and lead to me not being able to make the right call on where a ticket is without opening each one. Sure, I can add each of these update types to columns in my view - but I only have 10 columns, and there is a lot of other detail I can add into a views columns that is wasted by filling it with more update times.

It would be great to be able to have a Latest comment option.  This would also add options we don't have today like the ability to see when another agent updated the ticket, or if a CC or third party updated the ticket.
