Links created when text has number sign
Answered
Posted Jul 11, 2022
Zendesk automatically turns a "number sign + character" into a link. For example:
"Dear customer, please see item #3 below."
The "#3" becomes a hyperlink. Believe it or not, this confuses my customers as they think I'm linking to something.
Request: stop doing that.

Hi Brian Hemesath
That may sound great, but I'd rather stop using "#" as a lead-in to my numbering than lose the automated creation of ticket links in all my tickets.
Yours truly, Peter

@Peter sure, but how about Zendesk *not* link if the number is less than, say, 10? A bit of logic to assume I'm not linking to one of my first original tickets.

I am a fan of consistency. What you propose is an inconsistency.

Hello Brian Hemesath, Thanks for providing feedback.
The new editor has a built-in markdown editor and unfortunately, there isn't an option to disable automatic conversion of markdown syntax currently. However, you could undo (Cmd+Z) right after the text is autoformatted and it will go back to a dash and a space. Hope this helps!

In case anyone else is looking at this, I'm finding that if you format your #+number test using the code span or code block formatting options in the ticket composer, the number will not render as a ticket hyperlink.
