Chat widget blocking Macro dropdown on small screens (13" laptop for example)

Posted Nov 28, 2022

The chat widget icon overlaps the macro dropdown on smaller screens such as 13" laptop, yet there are blank (unused) space in the top right corner.

Since Zendesk serves an audience with varying screen sizes, the chat widget should be:

  1. moveable
  2. have a default position in an unused portion of the screen, or at least not overlap a frequently used dropdown, link, or button on the screen
  3. be hideable with a "recall" icon in the user dropdown (top-right of the screen on desktop/browser versus mobile app).

Thanks for this feedback Victoria! I'm one the Product Managers here and I'd like to understand this better. Can you reply and include a screenshot? (Please blur out anything confidential).

@... screenshots below.

Also note that "closing" the chat feature makes the chat widget go away for a little while, but it always comes back even when I don't have an active request. Super annoying given the overlap with "things that matter" on Zendesk Support.

It feels like this feature could live under the (?) or the profile section (top-right corner, also see screenshot) when there's no active requests or when the user closes [X] the chat window.

Also drives me crazy, but you can at least close it out.
